THE DIVINE REALMS
HEAVEN
Perhaps the best-known area of the Divine Realms, Heaven is also the largest. Also known as Eden or Paradise, it is the place where good souls find their final peace. If Anubis judges your life to have been sufficiently righteous, this is where you will come to rest. Not much is known of what it looks like, as getting in isn't an easy task and those that do will never leave, though people generally agree it is the most glorious garden that has ever existed. Heaven is a place of complete serenity, beauty, peace and happiness.
THE REALM OF THE GODS
Also known as Asgard or Olympus, this is the divine residence of the Gods. Which Gods you believe live there, of course, depends on your particular religion. This is also home of the Archangels, who serve the Gods and carry out their will.
THE FORESAKEN REALM
This desolate world, with little more than fragments of rock that appear to be floating in the
sky, is the prison where exiled
Gods are sent to.
THE MORTAL REALM
THE KNOWN UNIVERSE
The mortal realm is made up of two Universes, the Known Universe and the Unknown Universe, which themselves form the Multiverse. The Known Universe comprises of the areas that have been fully charted and colonised, and includes most places that feature in DSK, such as Dalimoor. All of the planets in the Taro System, the Ormold system, the Vanaro System and the Milky Way System are part of the Known Universe. The Known Universe has a huge variety of flora and fauna and wildly ranging levels of Magickal and technological development, however it has predictable physics compared the immortal realms.
THE UNKNOWN UNIVERSE
Although inhabited almost exclusively by Demons, the Unknown Universe is actually part of the mortal realm. It is a land of the unfamiliar, as no mortal explorer has ever successfully returned from a journey mapping it out. In this world of darkness, decay and filth there are no stars. The only known colony there is the Metal Planet. This artificial structure serves as the main stronghold of the Demon Fleet and the centre of power for their empire.
THE SPIRIT WORLD
HOME OF THE SPIRITS
Somewhere between this world and the next, running in parallel to the mortal realm, rests the Spirit World. It is a beautiful and mysterious place filled with Magick, difficult to describe because it has no fixed shape. Spirits are in tune with their world and can will it to take whatever form they desire. However, the world does have a mind of its own and tends to change into what it wants every once in a while, so it can be rather a double-edged sword. It is divided in different districts for each of the Spirit Clans.
THE CAUSEWAY OF RECKONING
This place, resembling a pristine office with a large desk, a huge set of scales and many doors acts as the nexus between the mortal, Spirit, Demonic and Divine realms. When you die, this where you are sent to have your live judged, to see where
you should be placed in the afterlife. Time works differently in this place, so even if it seems that you are
the only person there, there are millions of other souls
being judged at the same time.
LIMBO
Also known as Purgatory, this is where souls are sent from the Causeway of Reckoning if they are judged as being too good for Hell, but have done sufficient misdeeds to keep them out of Heaven. It is a place of absolute nothingness and eternal boredom. It is believed that Limbo was modelled on the Void (see below).
THE DEMONIC REALMS
HELL
The Demonic Realms are also known as the Underworld, and like Heaven in the Divine Realms, Hell is the largest and most prominent place. Also known as Hades, it is the domain of Satan, the leader of all of the Hell Demon races, the most recent being a woman named Natica. It is also the home of her servants, the Dark Angels. Hell is the domain of afterlife where the worst of the worst are sent, to be punished with eternal damnation. Unlike the stereotype of fire and brimstone, Hell is actually mainly technological, full of gigantic machines and jagged rocks.
THE SUBURBS
Hell has many branches and domains that are offshoots of it. This is where many of the Demonic races live, such as Imps, Incubi and Succubi. The landscapes vary, but there is usually a predominance of darkness and fire.
THE NETHERWORLD
One of the main suburbs of Hell is the Netherworld, the home of the Djinn. It is a land of total darkness, fire and warmth. It shares some of the properties of the Spirit World, in which the Djinn can shape their homes in any form they wish, though they cannot remove the darkness or heat.
THE SHADOW REALM
Another suburb is the Shadow Realm, where the race known as the Shadowkin reside. It is a world locked in a permanent twilight; the point between light and darkness where shadows can thrive. Despite that, it is full of sunshine and life, water and flora spread throughout the whole world. It rains frequently and is never very cold.
THE FIFTH REALM
The legendary Fifth Realm, as known as the Tangent Realm
or the Apart Realm, is shrouded in mystery. Separate from the other realms, it has little to do with them, but is eternally tied to them like a tangent on a circle. Not much is known
about it, other than that it is said to sometimes touch one of the
other realms and cause some kind of major event. It has the appearance of something out of dream, but at the same time, it is
beyond imagination. There is no defined sky or ground, just forms
of no fixed shape floating in a sea of colour. What seems to be a
solid platform cannot be stood on, and what seems like nothing is
a solid platform. It is home of the equally unusually Tangent race.
THE VOID
The Void is the rift between dimensions. If a person falls out of time or their dimension, this is where they end up. It is a world that is nowhere and made of nothing. It is the home of Ethaw bats, creatures that live off the sparse matter that falls into the Void, and the odd person that becomes stuck there. Because of how dangerous the Void is, it is important to use portals when travelling long distances between dimensions, or use a vehicle that is totally prepared.
