'LIERLO
GABRIEL D'LOR, 3024-3041 Much loved brother. Deeply trusted friend.'
-Lierlo's Epitaph, Series I, Chapter 28
Bio:
Lierlo is the son of the late Luneblanche leader, Siun
D'lor and his Cielnoir mistress, Malevolence
Ververte. Siun was married to Roreille's
mother at the time. During this period, the Luneblanche and Cielnoir
were still strictly separate and feuding. The war between the two
clans reached a fever pitch around the time Lierlo was born. Malevolence
knew that if she kept her child (which she had named Apathy), her
clan would try and kill him for being half-Luneblanche. Siun did
not know that his mistress was from the Cielnoir clan until she
came to him and left their child in his care. Malevolence gave her
child a Cielnoir crest-marked chain
engraved with his name for him, as a memento of her. Siun did not
want to call him 'Apathy,' as it was a Cielnoir name. Instead, he
named him 'Lierlo,' after his grandfather.
Although
Siun did not have the heart to get rid of Lierlo, he was not too
happy with having to look after a Cielnoir's child. Lierlo was told
almost daily that he had dirty blood, that he was a filthy and evil
creation. He was forced to hide any signs of his Cielnoir heritage,
for example, he had his Cielnoir fire spells trained out of him
and replaced by Luneblanche fire spells, even though it hurt him
to do it. Lierlo's wings were mostly white, Luneblanche style, but
often sprouted the odd black feather. Siun always took it upon himself
to pluck out the black feathers until they eventually stopped growing
back.
Siun's
constant bullying did have quite an effect on Lierlo. Since he was
told that a part of him was impure and evil, he began to hate a
part of himself and wish he could be rid of it. This hatred soon
manifested into a Cywyrm Spirit Familiar
and eventually another 'Lierlo.' This was the Cielnoir Lierlo that
the gang have seen Lierlo acting as in the present day. Lierlo would
often see the other Lierlo and would be told to do things by him,
usually bad things. Lierlo would then blame these wrongdoings on
him, but in reality, the other Lierlo was just a figment of his
imagination, and still is. He willed the Cielnoir Lierlo into being
so he had a scapegoat for anything bad he ever did.
Even
though he was quite unbalanced on the inside, Lierlo managed to
keep it together. When he was older he was able to join his sister,
Roreille, and his father in upholding the Divine
Protection and keeping the peace in the world of Dalimoor.
Lierlo and Siun had very different opinions on the best way to protect
Dalimoor and the Malaphaescite. Lierlo
believed that the Spirits should get involved with the people of
Dalimoor, but Siun had the rather archaic belief that the Spirits
should not be involved with the affairs of mortals.
This
brings us closer to the present day. When the new Queen, Laurenza,
came into power and fully developed her Malaphaescite powers, Lierlo
noticed that she might be a threat to the world. This was because
she was the first ever Oracle of Spirits
to be part human, and humans are notorious for becoming power-crazed
and abusing the powers they have. He thought this would be a problem
for Laurenza especially because she had such a wild and unrestrained
personality, always searching out new lovers. Siun told Lierlo not
to get involved and that the Divine Protection will stop the Malaphaescite
from falling into the wrong hands. Lierlo was annoyed that his father
did not understand that the Malaphaescite was already in the wrong
hands, so he decided to tackle matters himself. He took possession
of a human's body and live with Laurenza, to try and find her a
true love that would settle her down to the path of righteousness.
He chose the body of young blonde boy by the name of Falos
and joined up with the Circle. After doing
some research, he soon found who he thought would be a perfect match
for Laurenza: Thorn. Against his father's
wishes, he opened the Divine Protection and allowed Thorn entry
to Dalimoor. Even though his choice was incorrect, it was a wise
selection in the end, because Thorn was a vital addition to the
team and now a very good friend of all the others. When he felt
hiding it was no longer necessary, Lierlo revealed his true identity
to the gang.
Lierlo
has never had much luck when it comes to relationships. When Lierlo
first met Kuja's sister, Mihako,
he fell in love with her. However, things never really worked out
between them, as being a clone, Mihako was unable to love Lierlo
in any sense of the word. He also had a couple of awkward encounters
with his half-sister, Cassandra. Towards
the end of his relationship with Mihako, Lierlo used Allen
to try and get some of the affection he was missing out from Mihako.
This was the final thread that unravelled their ropey relationship,
as Mihako, though unable to love, was still able to become jealous.
She transformed into her AoD form and killed
Allen, and Lierlo had to seal her away for their own protection.
After this terrible loss, Lierlo's split personality came to the
complete forefront. He saw that the greatest love can be found within
yourself. He and the Cielnoir Lierlo, Apathy, began a special relationship.
Lierlo
is an intelligent, resourceful and compassionate individual. Though
young, this blonde-haired and green-eyed Spirit is wise beyond his
years. He usually wears white Luneblanche-style robes and glasses
when he is reading. Lierlo has a Spirit's Familiar, a Cywyrm called
Smiley.
