*Ares, Chiara and Tifanel (helping Rin) all board The Destiny and head for Palamoor, to the address on the back of the photograph. They soon arrive and find a place to land. Descending the gangplank, and with Tifanel giving Rin the piggyback he said he would, they find themselves outside what appears to be a pub. It is an old-fashioned, homey-looking building. According to the sign, it's called 'The Pope's Legs.'
Tifanel: *Looks up at the sign.* 'The Pope's Legs?' Well... yeah, she probably does have pretty nice ones under that big dress...
Chiara: *Looks scandalised.* Tif!
Ares: Eheheh…
Rin: Well, it is nice to be home. It's an awful shame I can't really see it, though. Shall we go inside?
Ares: Let's.

*They go inside. The bar has a warm and friendly atmosphere, with many people drinking and chatting merrily. Stood behind the bar is the man from the photograph. He is in his early fifties, with his long and untidy red hair tied in a high ponytail. He's pouring a drink and smiling at a customer, showing his slightly wonky teeth.*
Chiara: There he is! *She rushes towards him, leaps over the bar and glomps him.* GRAMPS!
Ares: Oh my… Chi!
*The man, Shiloh, is nearly bowled over by her over-enthusiastic hug.*
Tifanel: Damn, she's like a whirlwind sometimes...
Ares: Isn't she just?
Rin: Shiloh's there? Take me over to him, would you, my dear friend?
*Tifanel, Rin and Ares approach the bar.*
Tifanel: Uh hey, you must be Shiloh.
Shiloh: Yeah, that's my name. Hey there.
Ares: Hey. We brought Rin back home because he needs some new glasses.
Shiloh: Ah, really? *Turns to Rin.*
Rin: Yes, there was an unfortunate accident with my only pair.
Shiloh: Well, that's just too bad. *Takes up a broom, presumably used to clean the bar, and randomly hits him over the head with it.*
Chiara: *Backs off from Shiloh and goes on the other side of the bar again.* Yikes!
Tifanel: I think I'm startin' to see where Rin gets his violent streak from...
Ares: What was that for?
Shiloh: Where in the sam hill have y'been? Ya disappear without a trace, y'don't tell me where you're goin', y'don't write, y'don't call! I've been worried ill 'bout ya! Years, Rin, it's been years! Well, it's sure nice y'finally came back to see me, but it's only 'cos y'needed somethin'!
Ares: Oh... I see.
Rin: *Faints suddenly.*
Shiloh: Aw dang, I reckon I hit him too hard...
Ares: It probably doesn't help that he's not very well.
Chiara: Yeah, he's been really sick. Can we take him to a bed or something?
Shiloh: Oh sure, I guess I can't leave him lyin' there like that, no matter how mad I am at him. Lemme get someone to cover behind here and we'll get him upstairs.

*Shiloh gets someone to take his place and Tifanel picks up Rin. Shiloh then leads them to the living quarters above the bar. On the way up, he talks to them.*
Shiloh: Well, knock me down with a feather. *Looks to Chiara.* Call me slow, but I've just figured out who y'are. You must be Chiara.
Chiara: Yep.
Shiloh: Dang, I ain't seen you since you were a tiny lil' thing. You're quite the young lady now.
Chiara: Yep, I sure am a lady.
Shiloh: Well, it's sure nice t'see ya again. *Gestures to Ares and Tifanel.* These your friends?
Ares: Hi, I'm Ares.
Chiara: She's my best friend.
Tifanel: I'm Tifanel, but most guys just call me Tif.
Chiara: And he's my boyfriend.
Shiloh: Nice t'meet ya. Yep yep, as I said before, I'm Shiloh Bancroft.
Chiara: Nice to meet you too, gramps.
*Shiloh shows them into a bedroom and they get Rin into a bed.*
Shiloh: Y'know, Chi, I never thought I'd see y'again. Does this mean Rin broke his promise to Windsong?
Chiara: Windsong... *Shakes her head.* Mum, rather... She's dead.
Shiloh: Oh, dang... I'm sorry.
Chiara: It's okay. I never knew her, so when I found out she was dead it didn't make much of a difference... *Smiles a little bitterly.*
Ares: But at least you have your father and your sister.
Chiara: Yeah, and Tif and all of my friends. That's a big enough family for me, so I don't have to cry.
Shiloh: You're like your dad in a way, Chi.
Chiara: Really? How so?
Shiloh: No... Never mind. So, uh, what's up with Rin? Y'said he's sick.
Ares: Yeah, he keeps throwing up and he's delusional. He said something about ships.
Chiara: He's been fainting and doing really weird stuff too.
Tifanel: We don't know what's wrong with him.
Shiloh: Ah, that sounds like his usual thing.
Ares: This happened before?
Shiloh: Yeah, all the time when he was young. Every so often he'd get ill and have the same symptoms y'told me about, but the doctors could never find anythin' actually wrong wi' him.
Tifanel: Man, that's kinda weird.
Ares: It is. Poor Rin.
Shiloh: Yeah. Don't worry, though, he usually gets better in a couple o' days.
Chiara: Oh goody, but there's also the problem of his broken glasses.
Shiloh: *Scratches the back of his head.* Mmm, that is a bit o' a problem...
Ares: Considering the state of them, I think a new pair is in order.
Shiloh: Yeah, the trouble is they're made of a kinda rare material, but Rin can't really live without 'em...
Rin: *Mumbles.* It's too... Go away...
Ares: Is it possible to get another pair at all, then?
Shiloh: We could ask Spangly if she can help, I guess.
Tifanel: 'Spangly...?'
Rin: Shiloh's nickname for an old friend of ours... Ariella... Ariella di Pazzi.
Chiara: *Gasps.*
Tifanel: What's up, Chi?
Chiara: Granny!
Ares: She's family to you, too?
Chiara: Well, not biologically. She's the lady that raised me.
Ares: Oh, I see.
Shiloh: She's been a friend of ours for a long time. When Chi was born, Winny wouldn't take her and said Rin couldn't look after her, so Spangly said she would. She was a strange woman, your mum. But that's all in the past now.
Ares: It'll be nice to see her again, huh Chi?
Chiara: It sure will. This is turning out to be a really great trip! ...Except for daddy being blind and sick and everything...
Shiloh: Spangly runs a shop fulla all kinds o' Magickal trinkets and stuff. She made Rin's glasses originally, so we'll go an' see if she can make another pair.
Rin: *Sits up.* Let me come too. I realise I'm in a bad way, but please... I've made it this far alive, haven't I?
Ares: It's true. I guess we can let you.
Tifanel: I reckon my shoulders are up to it.
Shiloh: Her place is down the Yaewyth from here, so we can take the Busboat.
Chiara: Yay, I like the Busboat. I can see the fish from it.
Ares: Bus... boat?
Shiloh: Exactly what it sounds like. It's a public transport kinda thing, but a boat.
Ares: Oh, I see, new one to me.
Shiloh: Don't they have 'em on your planet?
Tifanel: Well... they might in the big cities, I dunno, but our local village is a bit... backward.
Ares: More like sideways.
Shiloh: Heheh, okay. Let's get this show on the street, then.
Rin: 'Road,' Shiloh. It's 'Let's get this show on the road.'
Shiloh: Yeah, that's what I said.
Ares: Close enough.

*The party leave the bar and head down to the Busboat depot, a small jetty with a shelter over the top. After not too long, the vehicle itself arrives. It's as Shiloh described, a large boat with seats for a good number of people. They get on it and it soon sets off. Rin slumps in his seat, slipping between consciousness and unconsciousness, whilst the others talk to each other.*
Shiloh: So... uh... d'ya guys know about Rin's... problem? Why he needs glasses, I mean.
Chiara: Yeah, daddy told me and Ares one time.
Ares: *Nods.*
Chiara: He said it's 'cos he sees ugly and scary things.
Shiloh: Yeah, that's about right. He's been that way ever since I found him and I dunno why.
Ares: Poor Rin. It really sounds like a nasty thing to suffer with.
Tifanel: Wait a minute... 'found him?' You mean you're not...?
Shiloh: Yeah… Don't ya know I ain't his real father? Not biologically, anyway.
Ares: You're not? But you look so alike. The same hair...
Chiara: I was gonna say the same thing.
Ares: Ah, well, great minds and all that.
Shiloh: *Shakes his head.* It's just a coincidence. That's probably one o' the reasons why I decided t'adopt him. I'd recently lost my own son and split with my wife, so t'find a child that looked so much like my own…
Ares: That's lucky.
Tifanel: *Nods.* I can see why you took him in, in that case.
Shiloh: I found Rin in the ravine not too far from here. There was an accident and he got hit by a fallin' rock. When he woke up, he couldn't remember anythin'... not his age, not his name… nothin'.
Ares: Then it was lucky for him too that you found him, then.
Chiara: *Is leaning over the side of the boat, trying to touch the fish with the tips of her fingers.* That must've been pretty bad... losing his memory like that. So he has no idea who he really is... Who his real parents were...
Shiloh: Yeah… 'Rinford' was the name of my own kid, so I named him it too. I guess... I kinda replaced him with Rin. But I didn't know what I was lettin' myself in for when I took him in. When I first brought him home, he was terrified. He could see all these horrible things no one else could.
Ares: So, then... how did you know that his glasses would help him?
Shiloh: Well, we didn't find that out till later. It was pretty bad up until that point, havin' t'deal with his strange eyes, his illness and... his other weird thing too.
Chiara: What weird thing?
Shiloh: His weird habit. It's one of his secrets, so I dunno if y'know about it. When I saw him doin' it, I'd pretend I didn't 'cos I don't reckon he's too proud of it.
Ares: I don't think we do. Do we, Chi?
Chiara: Unless... Do you mean... rummaging in bins?
Shiloh: Yeah, so you do know about it.
Chiara: We saw him doing it last night.
Tifanel: He also collects dead things in a shoebox under his bed...
Ares: But why?
Tifanel: He wouldn't tell us.
Shiloh: Never told me either... Yeah well, like I said. He's a weird one, but I still love him.
Ares: Well, I guess it doesn't matter if he's not hurting anyone.
Chiara: *Nods.* I guess, but I'd still like to know why.
Shiloh: Maybe we'll find out one day.

*The boat reaches their stop and they start walking, Tifanel once again giving Rin a piggyback. They soon reach a small shop with a pretty front. The sign says 'Madame di Pazzi's Magick Cavern' in curly lettering. The windows look quite dark and the door is closed.*
Chiara: Here we are, this is granny's place.
Ares: Looks nice.
Tifanel: It's kinda dark... Is she open?
Chiara: It always looks like this.
Ares: Really?
Chiara: Saves on lighting bills.
Ares: That's true.
Shiloh: Let's see if she's around.
*They enter the shop and the door closes behind them with a soft tinkle of bells. The interior is very dimly lit with many paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling, and candles lining the surfaces. The air is heavily perfumed with incense. There are wind chimes, dream catchers and dowsing crystals hanging from above, and shelves of tarot cards, Magickal artefacts, gemstones, crystal balls, decorated boxes and statuettes.*
Tifanel: *Looks around and whistles.* Lots of cool stuff in here.
Ares: There sure is and it smells so pretty.
Chiara: Granny has the neatest shop. It's so nice to be here again.
Tifanel: What's this thing? *Picks up a small ball that suddenly transforms into confetti. It falls into his hair, lingers there for a moment, then becomes a ball in his hand once more.* Okay...
Ares: Wow, that's really cool.
Chiara: I have about six of those. Now where's granny?
*They move on through the shop and come to a shelf full of goods that seem a strange addition to the rest of the trinkets on offer, like a jarring note in a familiar song. It's fishing equipment.*
Ares: Fishing tackle?
Tifanel: *Shakes his head.* Chi, she's definitely your adoptive mum.
Chiara: Heh heh... Fortunes and fish, they go together.
Tifanel: ...If you say so...
Ares: I was going to say that.
Tifanel: It's the great minds thing again, ain't it?
Chiara: If you say so... *Sticks her tongue out.*
Tifanel: Hey!
Shiloh: Hey, take the fightin' outside, will ya?
Ares: Come on Chi, Tif isn't that stupid.
Tifanel: I ain't stupid at all!
*An elderly woman steps out of the shadows so quietly it's as if she manifested in front of them. She is wearing a huge amount of costume jewellery and long robes. Her hair is covered by a scarf and she has hoop earrings.*
Woman: Now, let's not have so much negative energy inside my shop.
Chiara: GRANNY! *Glomps her in the same way she did to Shiloh.*
Ariella: Careful child, don't knock me over.
Ares: Heh heh...
Tifanel: I'm tellin' ya, Ares, she's dangerous.
Ares: Overenthusiastic.
Tifanel: Dangerously so.
Shiloh: *Goes to Ariella.* Hey Spangly.
Ariella: Hello Shiloh, Rin as well, I see. It's so nice to see you all again. I've missed you, Chiara.
Chiara: Yeah, me too. ...You, I mean, I've missed you.
Ariella: And it's nice to meet you, Chiara's friends. You're here to get new glasses for Rin, aren't you?
Ares: How did you know?
Ariella: I divined the future from my cards.
Shiloh: She's pretty good with them. It's kinda annoying that she often knows answers to questions you ain't asked yet, though.
Ares: I can kind of see how.
Tifanel: Must be handy, though, being able to see stuff like that.
Ariella: Yes, it's quite useful when you can't find the cat.
Ares: *Laughs.* I bet.
Ariella: I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you, though. I don't have enough of the material to craft the lenses from. *She takes a sliver of the orange crystal from her pocket.* This is all I have.
Shiloh: Dang...
Ares: Is there any way of getting anymore?
Tifanel: Shi said it was real rare...
Rin: *Comes round and takes the crystal from Ariella.* I know where to find some more.
Ares: Really?
Chiara: How do you know that, daddy?
Ariella: Rin has a certain... affinity with the material, I suppose you could say. Only when he looks through his glasses does the world seem different. If you wear them, nothing changes.
Tifanel: Well, I hope you're right, 'cos this is our only lead right now.
Ares: *Nods.*
Shiloh: All right then, tell us where t'go, Rin.

*They head out on Rin's directions and catch another Busboat. They soon end up near some mountains with a dusty ravine.*
Shiloh: This is...
Chiara: Gramps?
Shiloh: *Stares into the ravine, looking reminiscent.* This is where I found you, Rin.
Ares: Wow, all the way out here...
Tifanel: Looks kinda precarious to walk through.
Rin: We need to go in.
Ares: Where, Rin?
Rin: Into the ravine... I'll know the exact place when we got there.
Tifanel: Lead on.
*They begin walking down the ravine. As they pass, little chippings fall around them from above, as if something is moving around up there and knocking them off.*
Ares: *Turns and looks up at where the chippings are coming from.*
*She catches a glimpse of a shadow. There's definitely something up there.*
Chiara: Ooh, I've got the chills. It feels like we're being watched. *Holds Tifanel's hand.*
Ares: I think we might be… I think I saw a shadow moving up there.
Shiloh: It's probably just... mountain goats...
Tifanel: Mountain goats?
Shiloh: Or somethin' else that lives on a mountain. I dunno.
Ares: I don't know what it looked like. Let's say it was a goat.
*They soon come across a small animal lying in their path. It looks like a baby lion cub, but it has the wings and head of an eagle.*
Ares: A Gryphon...?
Chiara: Is that what it's called? It's a cute little birdie thing whatever it is. *Crouches down by it.* Hello you! Hello! *Pets it.*
Ares: Yeah... I wouldn't. Be careful.
Tifanel: But I think it's hurt... Look, its wing is kinda wonky. *Goes over to it.* Lemme see.
Shiloh: *Shakes his head.* No, I reckon Ares is right. If there's a baby one, the big mamma can't be too far away…
Ares: He has a point...
*As Shiloh predicted, a massive and ferocious-looking mother Gryphon swoops down from the mountain walls. She grabs Tifanel by his sword in her sharp talons and carries him off into the sky.*
Chiara: *Screams.* Tif!
Ares: *Gasps.* Oh my goodness!
Shiloh: Aw dang, we did warn him... *Shakes his head.* You'd best get after him. Chi, you're a Spirit so y'can fly, right? You can take Ares. Rin's in no state t'fight, and I ain't never been good at Magick...
Rin: Neither have I.
Shiloh: Nah, y'only say that t'be nice to me. You've done Magick I ain't never seen anyone else do before. *Looks back to the girls.* I'll stay here and look after him. Y'go rescue your friend.
Ares: We'd better get going, she's probably taken him quite a way whilst we've been talking.
Chiara: Yeah, I'm on it. *Her Spirit features appear, including her beautiful, sparkling silver wings.* You can't be too heavy, Ares. *Lifts her and starts flying after the Gryphon.*
*The men watch the girls fly into the distance for a moment, before Shiloh turns to Rin to ask him something.*
Shiloh: Rin?
Rin: Shiloh?
Shiloh: Why did y'leave? Back then... why did y'just disappear like that?
Rin: I had to. It was because of that beautiful, but unfortunately unbalanced Shaya. I'm ashamed to admit it, but she drove me into hiding. I set up home in the Spirit World, hidden away in the Airgris HQ so she couldn't find me.
Shiloh: She was that bad, huh?
Rin: Well, you saw what she did to my leg. *Sighs.* I wasn't going to stick around for her to get worse and do damage to any more of me.
Shiloh: Yeah... But you're back out in the open now. Have y'seen her at all?
Rin: A couple of times. She wasn't too bad, though. The years have progressed and I suppose she's had a lot of time to think, and mostly calm down.
Shiloh: I'm glad. I've sure missed ya, Rin.
Rin: And I you. *Hugs him.*

*Meanwhile, up in the sky, Chiara and Ares are on the trail of the Gryphon.*
Chiara: Oh, I hope he's okay. Who knows what that overgrown chicken is doing to him?
Ares: I'm sure he will be. Tif can look after himself... right?
Chiara: He sure can. I guess I shouldn't worry too much.
*They reach the mountain peak and Chiara lands, setting Ares down. They are stood before a monstrous nest filled with glinting treasure and other pretty artefacts. Among the trinkets are several squawking Gryphon chicks. The mother Gryphon and Tifanel are also there, the Gryphon yanking hard at Tifanel's sword, trying to wrench it from his hands.*
Chiara: Tif!
Tifanel: Oh hey girls, now's not a good time...!
Ares: What, it's not a good time to help you?
Tifanel: Nah, that's not what I meant! Some help right now would be real appreciated!
*The Gryphon tugs hard on Tifanel's sword.*
Tifanel: *Pulls it back.* No, you can't have it! It's mine! I think this thing is a bit of a magpie. It wants my sword 'cos it's all shiny.
Ares: Have we got anything shinier to distract her with? ...Is shinier a word?
Chiara: Isn't it 'more shiny?'
*Tifanel manages to get his sword totally out of the Gryphon's grasp. It consequently becomes quite angry and rears back, roaring like a lion.*
Tifanel: I don't think it really matters right now!
Chiara: They're not so cute anymore when they're that big...
Tifanel: Okay birdie, you want my sword, do ya? How about I let ya have it right through your heart? *Aims up, ready to strike.*
Ares: Tif, what about the babies?
Tifanel: Oh yeah, damn...
Chiara: If you kill her, those babies won't be so much Gryph-ons anymore but orph-ons!
Ares: You should be pun-ished for that.
*The Gryphon mother takes a swipe at Tifanel with her talons, making him have to duck quickly out of the way.*
Tifanel: Yeah Chi, makin' stupid jokes at a time like this? You're as bad as Kuja.
Chiara: Okay, I'm sorry. I don't think she's gonna let us get away with the shiny sword, but we can't kill her... We need to just rough her up a little so she doesn't come after us.
Ares: *Nods.* That sounds like it'll work out. I hope.
Tifanel: Right, I'll try and goes easy on her. Whirling Dynamo! *He begins spinning round, holding the blunt end of his sword straight out with the intention of hitting the Gryphon with it on each pass round.*
*The Gryphon is surprisingly fast and agile for a creature of its size. It grabs Tifanel before he strikes and kicks him in the chest with its large lion feet.*
Tifanel: Arrgh! *Is knocked back and almost goes flying off the mountain edge, but he manages to grab the cliff in time and haul himself back up.* Eesh, that was close...!
Ares: Jeez, are you okay?
Tifanel: Yeah, I reckon so. She packs a pretty good wallop for a girl.
Chiara: ...
Ares: I reckon we should take over from Tif, just to show him.
Chiara: I think you're right, Ares. *Draws her rod and raises it.* I call upon my inner strength, unchained forces within my mind… *Several small balls of multicoloured energy fly around it as one large ball is formed at its tip.* Power that can whittle away your very being! Aura Blast! *The balls join as one and fire a large ray of light at the Gryphon.*
*The Gryphon quickly grabs a shiny plate and holds it up to the beam. It is reflected back at them, forcing them to dodge swiftly out of its path.*
Chiara: Wow, she's smart... She's no birdbrain!
Ares: Damn, I'll say…
Tifanel: Chi, if ya make one more bad joke I'll throw ya off this mountain myself.
Chiara: I'm sorry. I can't help it!
Ares: Hmmm... *She changes into her misty form and goes over to the stash of treasure in the Gryphon's nest. Changing back to normal, she starts throwing things from the pile at the Gryphon.* Go away you! *Throws a shiny key.* We just want to help our friend! *Throws a hand full of pennies.* Is that too much to ask?
*The Gryphon doesn't seem too impressed. It roars again and claps its wings together, making lightning strike around them.*
Chiara: Eeek!
Tifanel: Oh great, it has to summon lightning when I'm up high and holdin' a long piece of metal...
Ares: Oh, I guess that didn't help. Have we got a Plan B?
Chiara: *Skips out of the way of a lightning bolt.* Yeah, I've got an idea. I'm getting really tired of this. We'd probably end this really quickly if we could use our full powers on it... Let me try this. Ephemeral Breeze! *She vanishes, but it then seems she's moving so quickly, it only looks like she's invisible. She darts around the Gryphon, binding its wings and legs together with a line from her rod.*
Ares: Whoa, nice work.
Chiara: *Reappears next to her.* Thanks.
Tifanel: Now if only you'd done that in the first place...
Chiara: I'd only just thought of it! The Gryphon should break out of the line eventually, so it won't be stuck like that forever. We should get back to gramps and daddy quickly, then.
Ares: Let's get going, then.
Chiara: Hmm, I won't be able to carry both of you at the same time... Not without help, at least. I call on the power of mind over matter, Illusion of Strength! *Her wrists are surrounded by purple bracelets of energy. She then picks up Ares in one hand and Tifanel in the other, with no difficulty at all.*
Ares: Now this is travelling with style.
Tifanel: Yeah, it feels kinda weird though.
Chiara: It's 'cos I'm a girl, isn't it? A girl isn't supposed to be super-strong? Ooh, I'm gonna beat you up when we get home... *Starts flying back towards the ground.*
Tifanel: Eh heh...

*They soon reach Shiloh and Rin once more.*
Shiloh: Wa-hey, so y'managed to rescue him, I see.
Ares: Sure did.
Rin: A hearty well done to you all. Let's keep moving, shall we?
*They continue on into the ravine. After a little walking, they reach a spot where Shiloh suddenly stops.*
Ares: Shiloh?
Shiloh: I think... No, I'm sure... This is the exact place where I found Rin all that time ago. *Kicks lightly at a large rock on the ground.*
Chiara: Wow, really?
Shiloh: Yeah... Hey, look! *He crouches down and brushes some dust away from the ground. Littered about underneath are lots of small pieces of that orange material, each about the size of a ball bearing.*
Ares: Oh wow, it's that orange stuff.
Chiara: Daddy led us to the right place after all.
Tifanel: But there ain't very much here... Will there be enough to make his glasses from?
Rin: *For some reason, he has a look of deep sadness on his face.* This place...
Ares: ...Rin?
*Rin remembers himself as a child wandering around this spot, feeling lost and alone, crying bitterly. Tears begin falling from his eyes, as orange as the crystal on the ground. As the tears land on them, they seem to fuse and make the substance grow larger.*
Chiara: Daddy...?
Ares: Could it be? Is that material... made from Rin's tears?
*Shiloh has his own memory. He remembers wiping the young Rin's tear-stained face with his handkerchief. He then recalls later being at Ariella's and taking his hanky from his pocket, only to find it covered in large pieces of that material.*
Shiloh: Yeah... It all makes sense now.
Tifanel: This stuff is made from his tears?
Shiloh: Well... Except from the time we first met and today, I don't reckon I've ever seen him cry… Even when Windsong left him, even when he lost his own daughter... he never shed a tear. Back then, after I dried his tears with my handkerchief, I found the crystal stuff on it. His first set of glasses was made from that stuff.
Chiara: Whoa...
Ares: I would never have guessed that was what it was made from.
Chiara: *Looks a bit astonished by the whole situation.* Me neither.
Tifanel: *Chips the now larger crystals away from the ground.* Well, looks like we have enough stuff to make lots of pairs of glasses now.
Chiara: Yeah, so cheer up, daddy. Don't cry anymore. *Hugs him.*
Shiloh: Let's just get back to Spangly's. She can make him his glasses and we'll talk about this tears thing more.
Ares: Good idea.

*They walk back out of the ravine and take the Busboat back to Ariella's place. She soon gets to work on crafting his glasses, but she talks to the others as she does.*
Ariella: Interesting... So this substance is formed from his own tears? *Smiles some.* Well, that makes sense to me.
Ares: It does?
Ariella: *Nods.* Yes. You see, when things get too scary, or the memories too cruel, he cries. The tears fall and through them he is able to see the world in a nicer light. His horizons become rosier and there's no need to cry any longer.
Ares: Oh, I see. Yes, that does make sense.
Tifanel: So... because he has weird eyes that make him see scary shit, his tears sorta compensate for that if things get too bad.
Chiara: That's kinda nice, I guess, if you have to have eyes that do that in the first place.
Ares: Yeah, I agree. Lucky for Rin, then.
Ariella: Rin's eyes are both a blessing and a curse. He is able to see people as they really are, their feelings, thoughts and emotions represented visually. This is an ability we can only dream of, but in an uncontrolled form, having to face all the lies, bitterness and dark emotions we each hide inside our hearts in physical form must become too much to take.
Ares: It must be…
Shiloh: Dang… Ah well, that's one mystery of yours solved, eh Rin? What does that leave, about a hundred? *Grins.*
Rin: You're a cruel one, Shiloh. *Smiles.*
Ariella: *Blows the excess dust from the finished glasses.* There, all done. I've made two pairs.
Tifanel: Wow, that was fast.
Ares: It was!
Ariella: It was an important task. *Puts one pair on Rin's face.* How's that look?
Rin: *Opens his eyes.* Perfect. I'm now able to fully appreciate your mature beauty, Ariella.
Ariella: ...You never change, do you?
Ares: He's always like that.
Rin: I'm also feeling a lot better. Perhaps the fresh air and change of scene did me good... what little I saw of it.
Shiloh: Well, that's good. So Spangly, how much do we owe ya?
Ariella: Oh, I'll just put it on your tab. Do visit again, when you're in the area... And you will be.
Ares: We will?
Ariella: Oh yes.
Shiloh: *Shudders.* I hate it when y'do that. I guess you'll be takin' off home too, Rin. You'll come back and see me too, won't ya, now you're out in the open?
Rin: Of course. But for now, I'm afraid we must depart. Come, dear friends, home is calling. *Waves to Shiloh and blows a kiss to Ariella, before leaving.*
Chiara: Bye granny, bye gramps! *Hugs both of them, before following Rin out.*
Ares: See you later!
